Called to get a technician out to fix some issues we've been having (battery needing replaced, doorbell isnt con tested anymore, etc). I was told it was a $60 rate for the technician to come out + a $15 fuel charge, a $160 fee for the battery i would need, in addition to the cost of whatever else needed to be fixed. So you pay for your equipment until it is paid off, pay for bill monthly, and on top of it all, pay another arm and a leg for them to fix the equipment? Absolutely not. My experience with ADT has left me feeling misled and pressured into a long-term contract. When a representative came to my home after I called about service, I was told I was signing up for a two-year contract. Almost four years later, I switched banks and didn’t update my automatic payment information because I believed my contractual commitment had long since ended. The most overpriced for outdated technology. There are much better companies that don't massively overcharge for equipment and then lock you in to a five year contract with excessive cancelation fees. Do yourself a favor and go with ANY other company. We were told it would cost one amount to cancel and then received an additional $1000 bill two months later. And I'm speaking as a 10 year+ customer.
Prices keep going up over time. It should be the other way around, especially after being a customer for 5 years. After canceling service none of the devices work anymore because they cut off the software. So basically you own the equipment that doesn’t work because they brick it after canceling services. That’s like buying a new tv to watch netfix but after I cancel my netflix subscription the tv doesn’t work anymore. This company uses a slimy used car salesman tactic to inflate your bill, and up-sale everything and after you sign the contract the salesman/tech inform you that you have to hire your own electrician to install the outdoor cams which was $1100 and the system was $4500. ADT also couldn’t figure out why my new nest thermostat kept dying and turning my entire AC system off in the middle of summer and I had to pay for another Electrician to come back and fix that too for another $550.
