I am writing this review years after my experience with Adoption By Gentle Care. At first, my case worker seemed very helpful. However the financial situation that I found myself in after both parties (the adoptive parents and the adoption agency) got what they wanted is very upsetting, and what this adoption agency did to contribute to the situation seems unethical to me. We first had contact with this agency in early 1987 when we had a private adoption lined up. It fell through and we added ourselves to the list for bi-racial babies. In November of 1987 we got “the call” and drove to Columbus to pick up our son. We were blessed with his sweetness, intelligence and many skills. Gentle Care is an amazing team leading Ohio in conducting ethical adoptions! We were so impressed with their focus on caring for Expectant Parents and Birth Parents and educating Hopeful Adoptive Parents on how to adopt well. I specifically appreciate that AGC requires Adoptive Parents to be willing to uphold an Open Adoption Relationship with their child’s Birth Families.
