I was absolutely shocked at the way this Doctor treated me when I went with my Mother who is hard of hearing and in an intense amount of pain that she describes as worse than child birth after conceiving 4 of us naturally. Her and I are kind hearted and funny people, and everyone including the student doctor that came in before him there (up to when he came in) was kind and understood that I have to interpret to my mom, she understand me more than anyone…I thought that would be explained to him. Dr Mathes was extremely caring and very efficient from the moment he walked into our patient room. He spoke with us and answered all of our concerns with out being pushy or rushed. When you have such a caring dr it means a lot. They will try their very best to do what needs to be done effectively and properly to get you back on your feet and as pain free as possible. I did notice a negative review , but please do not allow this to persuade you not to see Dr Mathes. A dr in their right mind will tell you that you need to lose... read more

Dr. Mathes performed a Lumbar Fixation on my spine in October of 2020. He and his surgical team did a phenomenal surgery that gave me back the ability to walk far better, further and with less pain than I’d had in many years. I have recommended him to many others. His attention to detail and belief in God and prayer helped get me back on my feet when I thought there was no hope and he was the only neurosurgeon who would even try to do anything. Wow what a jerk! He looked at MRI said I have issues and what they were. Then he told me that he would never do surgery on “someone like me” he said your BMI is so high. He said you would need to loose weight. I said well how do I do that being in pain when I work out and way worse after I work out. He said I don’t know how you should do it just that you need to do it before I would ever touch you for surgery!
