When i was there years ago staff wasnt the best one lady was amazing
Acres of diamonds transformed my life. To my understanding it's been an evolving program since it started, and during my time there I watched all the staff try to find to improve it. I spent the full program duration there, 2 years, and am graduating from acres. When I got to acres I had no place to go, I was in a ton of debt, and I was working in toxic environment. I spent 6 months here and accomplished nothing before they kicked my newborn and I out on the street. Go to St. Vincent’s, they put us in a motel for 5 weeks and worked with me until we found permanent alternative housing. Now I live in a 2 bedroom with my girls and have access to real resources, my girls are in childcare, and I have a job making enough money to survive instead of being forced to reduce work hours to fulfill program requirements. Better than being homeless at least, but don’t break any of the rules or they WILL boot you out on a Saturday morning with a newborn baby like trash to the curb lol
I came to this program after escaping domestic violence and homelessness. I needed safety, support, and a place to begin healing with my child. Unfortunately, what I experienced was far from that. The main case manager, Cheryl, often spoke to me in a rude, dismissive, and manipulative way. When I asked for support or offered suggestions, she would gaslight me and twist my words.
