This hotel is in a great location at the Near North Side. We had a great experience and would love to come back. Michael was great while checking us in. Be sure to try the bar downstairs. It has speakeasy vibes and they serve great drinks.
Every member of staff we came in contact with here had lovely attitudes, were extremely helpful, and had great senses of humor. The lobby, bar, breakfast area, elevators, hallways, our room, etc.. Were all perfectly clean and tidy. We had two mini fridges, a microwave, a small "kitchen" sink, two queen beds, many lamps, many outlets, a television, a nice bathroom with a "rainfall" shower head, plenty of space to unpack and unwind, access to an ice machine in the hallway, and we did not ever hear our neighbors. I have become disillusioned with the Hilton brand after some recent stays. A brand ought to promise a degree of quality and consistency--and Hilton's "collections" are not the Hilton I used to trust. The "Outset Collection" from what I can find, is Hilton obtaining older hotels in urban areas and rehabbing them to be less-expensive places that will appeal to younger travellers. I come to Chicago about twice a year. I have stayed at the acme most times, and I loved it. My most recent visit, the front counter women staff were terrible. The one woman with the box braids and v necklace made comments about the fact we were an interracial couple. She along with the other women would stare, and generally made the visit uncomfortable upon coming in and leaving. We did not visit the bar or coffee stand because of this. Great hotel and location. The staff makes you feel welcomed and have a local vibe. I had a hiccup with my reservation type and Randolph was able to upgrade me swiftly. 10/10 I’ll be back. Thank you
