There was a change of ownership about 4 years ago and it is for the betterI suspect that the old owner wa burned out. So far there has been a lot of improvement in the service and attitude. We need a local hardware store this store has good management now.
As a resident and homeowner in Millsmont, I have to say that I am already seeing positive changes in our local hardware store. I have been driving to Osh and Home Depot in lew of frequenting Laurel Ace Hardware, which is much more convenient, because I was treated so badly by the former owners. Glad also to hear that you are adding organic plants (no neonics) and revamping the return policy. Keep up the great work and communication with your neighbors!

Thanks to all our neighbors for putting up with our changes to date - including our hours (all longer though!) and next month, we'll ask you put up with store-wide changes during a complete renovation, but all for the good! (And all work will be done at night so we inconvenience our customers as little as possible!) Let us know what other changes you're looking for so we can make Laurel Ace the best new 96 year old hardware store around!
BUYER BE AWARE!!! I purchased a pair of pliers that their employee picked out at 10:50am. I went back to the store around 2:30pm and wanted to exchange them. I was told they didn't take back tools. The cashier stated that the person that rang me should have told me that, and written on the receipt, no returns. Which neither happened. this is a great neighborhood hardware store with a friendly helpful staff
Good old fashioned neighborhood hardware store – It's great to have a hardware store within walking distance when I'm in the middle of a project and suddenly discover I need another box of nails or a tube of caulk. The inventory is quite comprehensive and unlike Home Depot, people will help you find stuff and even give you some tips on getting our project done. Okay, you may pay a little more for some things, but then again, you don't have to buy the huge quantities you sometimes get stuck with at a big box store.
