We have the Ace protection plan on all of our major appliances. Although it doesn't happen often, when you need a repair the plan more than pays for itself. Unfortunately, sometimes the cost of repairs far out weighs the cost of a new appliance. We recently had to buy a new Speed Queen washer and they had them in stock and delivered the next day.
