I was required to enroll myself and my dependent through Academic HealthPlans this year, which is the new broker used by my university where I am a doctoral student and teaching assistant. This company has the most dysfunctional customer service I have ever experienced. There is no way to directly communicate with a "specialist" who can help with matters of payment and so forth. There contact number is fake!!! I waited a few times for over 30 minutes (thinking they were busy) trying to talk to someone about enrolling in insurance. No one ever answered!!! You literally can not get a hold over anyone at the company. It almost feels like a scam!!!!

I have had the worst time with AHP and their health insurance. I purchased their plan because my school required it. They do not tell you anything about coverage, technicalities, or are transparent about what you are getting with their service. I call BCBS to check my benefits with CPT codes and specific Doctors Names (including NPI #'s) and every time I call my benefits and out of pocket expenses change!
