dining at abyssinia is the coziest of events, with so many options, all of which are utterly delicious. i’ve grown up with ethiopian food and love it, and nowhere else in sacramento compares. the interior is beautifully decorated and the service is so pleasant and accommodating. we try to get something different every time, but the spicy red lentil dish, pumpkin stew, and tofu tibs are my standout faves. don’t forget to get a bottle of honeywine (tej). bring a big group and share to your hearts’ content!!!
This was my first experience with Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint! The staff were so welcoming and the atmosphere was so clean and inviting. Definitely recommend!
I have been going to Abyssinia for years. It’s where I would celebrate my birthday, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day (pretty much any day when I got to choose the restaurant). Best dinner with my hubby. The beet salad - WOW!! Spiced iced tea was so refreshing. He had a savory chicken dish. I had the vegan sampler. Everything was beyond fabulous. HUGE portions. The spongy, tangy bread was amazing. Skip all those chain restaurants guys. Support a local family business.
I LOVE this place. The restaurant has a warm, home-y feel, the service is good, and the food is to die for. If you've never had Ethiopian food before, the meat/veggie combo plate is a great option, but it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu.
