I was a resident at the original (Abraxas) which is basically on the same property, back in 1983-1984. I completed about 1 year there. That place taught me so much about life and to me, it was an awesome experience. I transferred to the halfway house portion, but did not finish it, as I wanted to get back to school/work, etc. My advice to anyone who reads this is, when you start something that is going to benefit your life, finish it and see it through. I was there for 11 months I really hated it when I first got there it was awful. I had a good counciler that I liked but she ended up quitting my second month there. But then I got a different one miss.Tanya. I don't think I would have ever gotten through that program if it wasn't for her so shout out to her. I'm giving it 2 stars cause I was always finding small pieces of plastic in my food. Also some staff there are very rude and disrespectful and then expect you to respect them so... Have fun with that
I was here for a year back in 2013 I think at the age of 17-18. I’m 28 now. Completed the program. Got my GED. shoutout to “BROTHER” the teacher. we called him. That man was amazing!! I think about this place all the time. It changed my life. You gotta want change. If not it will be hard for ya. I was a full blown drug addicted fool at 14. I was recently there. That place is scary, un safe, and will make u worse. Promise. U get more trauma there than u did before… I was there for 9 months. I saw 11 ppl try to yk. A riot. Fights. Prea. Threats. Running. Treatment theft. Every thing!! Food is full of starch. Treat u like animals. Don’t get to have fun. Nothinggg! DO NOT SEND UR KIDS! —Taylor E
