Michelle started off seeming nice and interested in a fair solution. She quickly started pushing for highly unequal redistribution and clearly took a side. My partner chose not to quit their first job in over 6 years to kick off our divorce. Michelle still insisted I should pay spousal support because they weren’t working. Daycare is free by the way. Michelle helped us come to a resolution that was fair and equally beneficial in a timely manner. She was professional and showed empathy throughout the process. If I am in need of mediation services in the future I have no doubt that I will be using her services again!
Mediation is very stressful for all parties involved, but Michelle not only listened, but heard the priorities and concerns and was able to use her mediation skills to keep the negotiations moving forward in a positive direction. As a result, the outcome was both reasonable and favorable. Although I was not a party involved in the mediation, I found Michelle to be both personable and professional, and I highly recommend her to anyone needing mediation services.
Avoid Her If You're in The Federal Government Sector!!!! She does not know the paperwork you need if you're in the Federal Sector for retirement payouts. (not Civil) as it seems Civil is all she knows (QDRO). She did not advise us of what the appropriate paperwork was required to submit for Federal and our submission got denied and I had to do MY OWN research to find out what actually was needed and submit all of the appropriate paperwork and delayed us 4 months!!! Ridiculous.
Michelle Cortez is such a wonderful, and caring person. I love the way she works and breaks down agreements to help you understand. I suggest working with her in the future!
