Awhile ago, I was essentially tossed out of the practice by her because I was not responding to any medication and also wanted some say in my treatment. (EG: Asking to trial a different drug than a common one known to cause brain fog during the month of finals in grad school when Iwas already struggling to be coherent...) Dr. Chua is an amazing neurologist! She genuinely listens to her patients and finds the best treatment plan for them. Thanks to her, my dad is finally free of chronic headaches who has been battling it for over 30 years. She is one of the BEST in Connecticut! Her staff are also wonderful. Thank you!
I was exceptionally disappointed in my entire experience with the Headache Clinic in Southington. When I first called for an appointment, I was told I would have to wait 5 months because the doctor was on maternity leave. After waiting the 5 months, I was only allowed to see the nurse. When I called to set a second appointment, this time with the doctor, I was told I couldn't change care practitioners. My insurance was billed as though I saw a doctor. Today, during an attack, I called to make an appointment and to get another refill since my headaches are so debilitating. I was told unless I come back for an appointment to "see whats going on" I wasn't allowed to receive another refill. I was also told to go to an Urgent Care or ER. I should have received an email or phone reminder that I had to make another appointment in order to receive my medication opposed to denying me meds. Disappointing I have to once again find another Doctor.
Since I started my treatment at Hartford Health Care, I notice a decrease in my headaches monthly, tho is very painful, it helping with my quality of life, thanks to all the staff for looking after me.
Dr. Chua has far exceeded my expectations and has restored some of my lost faith in Doctors. I suffer from cluster headaches and we are currently exploring various remedies. The other neurologist I saw just sent me home with a prescription and when it didn't work it wasn't nearly impossible to get back in to see her. Dr. Chua saw me right away when I called. She sat with me and explained my options in detail. Her bedside manner is excellent and her quest for minimizing my pain is evident.
Dr.Chua was not only the most professional and polite headache specialist we had the fortunate to work with, but she truly seemed to care. She is bound for endless success.
