After considering multiple yoga teacher training programs in NYC, I committed to Abhaya and have been SO happy with my decision. They offer open houses for those interested in their YTT programs, which I highly recommend attending to meet the instructor/owner and learn more about the studio. I have been coming to Abhaya for about three years now. I love Sunday classes with Tara and have been thinking about 200 YTT for a long time. I finally decided to take the training this spring, and it has been an AMAZING experience. Not only have I deepened my understanding of yoga and everything it means (anatomy, philosophy, teaching, etc), but also have made some good friends along the way. The space is beautiful. I took Kayla’s intermediate class today and it was absolutely incredible. She is so clear and confident that it allows you to really get into your body and turn off your mind. Her hands on adjustments were fabulous. I love this studio!
I can't recommend Abhaya Yoga enough! I took my 200 hour training here and it was truly the most enriching and authentic experience I could have asked for. Abhaya creates a very welcoming and safe space for learning, and does a great job of cultivating a community amongst your class.
If you are looking for a Yoga Teacher Training Program, I think this is the absolute best one available in the NYC area. First off, the studio is gorgeous and it is also a community. You don't need to live nearby to feel a part of the community. I've taken yoga for decades all over the city and never experienced anything else like it.
