Scam! Fraud! Just a for profit institution. Courses in no way prepare you for taking the billing exam . I purchased the new billing class and was was informed I had to take three pre-requisite anatomy classes before I could begin the billing course. I completed the three anatomy classes and I went to open the new billing course that they provide. I was very disappointed that having obtained a loan to obtain my CPC certification, I wad told I had to pay $999.99 up front. Yes I was told there might be a posibility of it. I feel that the obtaining you CPC through AAPC is not truly intended for people who are struggling & trying to add to their skill set & given the many reviews I have read today while I was thinking about writing a review truly make me feel I escaped a bad decision.
I wish I would have done more research before jumping into this program. I feel like customer service aspect has been ok for me. I do however agree with most of the reviewers who say they can not get a job with the certification they received from AAPC. I looked online at the average wage for COC across the country, unfortunately I did not actually look at jobs for COC positions until I was a 3rd of the way through the online curriculum and realized that I have to have at least 1 year of coding experience to qualify for any ... read more
I do believe the Books are educational. I've worked in healthcare over 20 years. I thought I could take a coding course and get certified and transition into a job at my hospital as a coder but that never happened. Because I never worked as a coder I have found it impossible to get a job. Everyone wants experience and the coding program you took and the certification alone is not enough to get your foot in the door.
