let me start off by saying that seeing a mechanic is akin to going to the dentist when you have bad teeth...first off, i was able to get an appt w/in 24hrs and had my car back in a little over 24hrs. staff was pleasant and professional (Amir and Mike) and answered my questions and concerns w/o being dismissive. dropped off the car 8am 6/2 and had it back 10am 6/3 in working order. AAMCO in general use to be a reputable mechanic shop. That is no longer the case and the proof is at this AAMCO in bloomfield, nj. A real Professional won't disrespect a veteran by having me waste my time to come pick up my vehicle i waited a month for due to your ignorance with car transmissions(go figure transmission specialists), only to tell me you effed up yet again and i have to walk back there again the next day.. Stay Away! A couple of years ago, I took my (well maintained) truck here when the check engine light came on with a transmission code. The owner was shady (his business card had only his first name on it for instance). They charged me a (steep) fee for diagnosis, refundable when the repair was done. According to them, it needed a rebuild, and the cost was several thousand dollars (even more with an extended warranty) -- more than what a salvaged transmission, but still less than what the vehicle value.
