Today my wife brought our cockatiel for a talon clipping. Unfortunately the vet cut one of my bird's quicks causing him to bleed, not uncommon unfortunately with birds. The vet explained to my wife (who is a vet nurse) that he cauterised the bleed but it had 'slowed' the bleed. When my wife drove back home (a matter of minutes away), our bird had lost quite a large amount of blood thereby showing that the cauterisation was inadequate.
