I just got off the phone with a Tech Support rep from A.O. Smith. He said my 6-month-old high-end water heater failing is my fault. He will send a tech to look at it in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, the family is without hot water. My old hot water heater lasted 15 years. A.O. Smith's "Premier" line lasted 6 months. If you don't want to be in my situation, don't ever buy A.O. Smith.
Should be no stars. Never buy a gas water heater from A.O. Smith. Will not stand behind warranty. Give you the run around when you call and will not let you talk to supervisor. Larry
