I just took the NCAT exam, and honestly the testing environment was not what I expected for a serious assessment of alertness and memory. During the sections where full focus and attention were required - like remembering shapes and responding quickly - the test proctor (a civilian, I believe) kept walking in and out of the room, talking, and even asking questions to people taking the test.
