My stepmother has lived in the building for decades with my now deceased father. Since new management took over (Fetner in 2024) they have replaced the heating system which apparently is far from adequate. There is nothing worse than hearing from your 94 year old mother that she is freezing all the time and has to wear 3-4 layers inside her own apartment just to stay warm. I have spoken to several people in the same building and their experience is the same. Shame on you Fetner!!!!
After Fetner Properties acquired the building, the standard of living dropped significantly. The new heating units, which they've installed in place of conventional boiler, do not provide sufficient heat. In the winter months when outside temperature is above freezing, the inside temperature remains at 70 degrees at best with the newly installed electric units working at all hours of the day. New management in this building as of fall 2024—BEWARE. They purchased our building on the Upper East Side and began extensive, disruptive construction without informing tenants before lease renewal—while simultaneously raising rents. The work has dragged on for over a year with no end in sight. Expect constant drilling at all hours, over 50 construction workers with building access, and dust coating the hallways. I just renewed my lease for 85 East End. I love my spacious apartment. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Repairs are promptly completed and staff are always courteous. My apartment is quiet but city life is right outside my door.
