4 Change Energy advertises 12.9 cents/kwh on the Choose Texas Power (CTP) website - it's still on the web site today. What they don't tell you is that is the price if you use EXACTLY 1000 kwh. If you go over or under by 1 kwh, the price goes up by 50% to over 19 cents/kwh. 4 Change also advertises a BBB grade of A+. Not sure how, but they actually have an A-. They tease you with a low rate, but that rate only applies (in my plan) to 1000-1500 kwh, and if you're on either side of that band, your rate basically doubles. Also, BEWARE FEES. Because mail has been delayed as everyone knows, my payments made it a day or two late. Late payment fee 5% extra, boom! PLUS "Disconnection Notice Fee" $19.95 , boom! Customer service unresponsive. I have never had such high utility bills, and more unwelcome surprises. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this company.
They manipulate the billing cycle dates to keep you from hitting the cheap amount of kwh. One bill had 21 days (7 kwh shy of 1000) one had 34 days (would have been over 2000 if I hadn't turned off the A/C). DO NOT GET TAKEN - RUN.
Here is my email to them after arguing hours on the phone. Hi I see that I am charged $255 for early termination of the service on my investment property at .................. This is insane. When I had this service, I told the representative that I bought this property and will be flipping it which means I will sell it in few months. Don't get complicit and think 4Change is doing you a favor by automatically renewing. Be careful what you are signing up for. 7 years and they are now just like every other utilitiy company. Crooks.
I agree they are horrible, but there are worse companies out there. Yes they will shur your power off for non payment, but no where near as often as Just Energy. They are truly worse. OH to talk to someone faster (this works with almost any company) never choose existing customer option, when someone answers just start talking don't even mention you chose that option and they will help.
