Very much lacking in airflow and ventilation. It gets ridiculously hot. A bunch of the treadmills are at least partially broken. The assisted pull-up machine has terrible grip that slips. Still better than many 24 hour fitness centers or else I would give it a 2
As a worker in the Santa Cruz service industry, I am very aware of how personalized attentive customer service has an impact on customers. All the staff is great & deserve this 5 ⭐ review. With that being said, I would like to single out Leland Bowman. I'm at the gym everyday & I see Leland constantly walking the facility engaging with members, a "Hello, How are you?" to "Your doing a great job" & my favorite "We're glad your here". THE WORST GYM IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY!! Staff is a hit or miss, some of them care being there and others look as if they are forced to be there. Half the machines dont work! Cobwebs all over the place! And its a crapshoot if they are open or closed, you wont know till you get there and all of a sudden your 6am workout is out the window because of some issue or because the staff didnt show up....
This isn’t the first time but I go today and it’s closed! Not even a sign saying why? The least they could do is send out a text or email to all members saying they are closed. Been a member for so many years and so tired of this gym being outdated, dirty, and most of their treadmills don’t even work. Most of the time their bathrooms are out of soap. Completely mismanaged place! Time to look at some other places
Nice staff/patrons but badly worn dumbbell rack, Olympic platform, and barbell plates(chipped and rust on exposed metal). The barbells themsleves don’t have smooth action and must have rusty ball bearings. Precipice of my disappointment was a bloody bandaid on the ground.
