Avoid at all costs. My experience with 1st Marine Papatoetoe was extremely poor. The workmanship was substandard, communication was unreliable, and I left with more issues than I arrived with. My boat went in with brand-new upholstery and came back damaged, dirty, and clearly not treated with any care. That alone says everything. I would not trust them with my boat again, and I strongly recommend others think twice before using their services.
Went to 1st marine to check out a boat today. They have some nice options in this yard, hence why I decided to go there. I took a long time checking the boat out for various issues, rust, corrosion, the usual etc. And whilst the guy was helpful he made me feel like I didn't know anything. I may be female but I'm pretty knowledgeable with boats etc. He also mentioned they'd had some "stupid offers" on this boat (listed for $41,795 NZD). Traded my Yamaha outboard for a "newer" Honda, but the experience was a mess. Had to bring the boat back several times and still never got the part I was promised. Ended up going elsewhere to fix the issues. Don’t pay these guys until everything is 100% right. I wouldn’t recommend them.
I traveled from Wellington to inspect a boat I was interested in. On Tuesday, 3rd December, I spent about 20 minutes wandering around the yard. The prices were not displayed on the boats, there was no one available to assist or answer my questions. After waiting, I left feeling disappointed with the lack of service and attention.
