I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was too serious not to share. I am pregnant and specifically ordered a mocktail while my friend ordered a vodka cocktail. The server switched our drinks, and because I had no reason to know what either drink was supposed to look like (and both were lemon-based) I drank the entire cocktail before we realized the mistake when the bill arrived. We visited 1988 for the first time, and one member of our party ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail while I ordered an alcoholic cocktail. The drinks were placed in the center of the table instead of being delivered to each guest, and they were accidentally switched. My friend questioned the appearance of her drink before starting to drink it and he confirmed the drink did not contain egg whites and NOT they she was holding the drink thay contained alcohol even though she was visibility pregnant and ordered NA. Gave the impression that it’s one of those cocktail bars that cares more about a gimmick than coming up with an interesting flavor combination. You don’t need cranberry and hibiscus tea in the same drink. Those are basically the same ingredient. The Juniper was good.
We booked the entire 1988 bar for a private birthday party and 10/10 would do it again in a heartbeat. It was such a memorable experience and the team was so accommodating!! They let us decorate, set up karaoke for us, and played our playlist the entire night. They also helped coordinate drink tickets, allowing our group to pay for the first drink but then order as much as they liked after.
