Definitely a nice trail. Decently challenging as the grade 5 rating suggests. Lots of elevation changes and quite a bit of rock scrambling. It was quite stunning with the mist/fog that was present for my walk. I recommend carrying a stick for breaking any of the hundreds of spider webs across the trail, lest you do so with your face as I did at first. Despite the name, my watch only tracked it as being 8.6km. Not sure if I inadvertently took a shortcut or if the name is just a tad ambitious. Either way, well worth the trek.
Nice retreat. It was a slightly rainy evening, so there were almost nobody. I don’t know how much crowded it gets in a nice sunny day. I didn’t walk all the trail, but it appears steep. There are two trails: one 11 km (4.5 hours) and the “grassy trail” about 20 minutes. There is a picnic area and a parking lot which fits about 10 cars.
Fun hike off a nice park. Only saw one other person on the track. Definitely Grade4/5. Any more challenging and you’d need some proper gear to tackle it. Generally ok to find some of the trail through some parts. The hike is not an easy one (would suggest only to fit and or experienced hikers)- you’ll be scaling big rocks and up some somewhat challenging ascents and tricky descent. This walk was a lot more challenging than what I thought it was going to be based on the other reviews! There are a number of very steep climbs up rock faces and very slippery creek crossings. Parts of it felt quite dangerous especially when wet as it was when I went! Lots of elevation - about 400m of climbing in total. There were times where it was hard to tell where the track was supposed to go - I think the signage is better if you do the loop anti-clockwise. Fantastic walk. A variety of terrains and ecosystems. Wildflowers in full bloom (mid September). Challenging enough but did it in 4 hours. Some steep, rocky climbs. Would rate as Grade 5. Take own water, have appropriate footwear, etc. Be prepared. Highly recommended if visiting the area.
