Please look elsewhere. The last thing I want to think about after giving birth is pay. 1199 added so much stress by taking weeks to approve it AFTER. I was crying calling waiting for a call back. Never ask for a call back on their phone system - they DO NOT return calls ever. Not to mention pay was going to be about $55 per day. I'm not sure how anyone can survive off that. As an 1199 member, I along with many of my coworkers am deeply disappointed with the current state of our union. It feels like the union is more focused on politics than on the needs of the workers it’s supposed to represent. In the hospital, we are overworked and underpaid, and a significant portion of our hard-earned money goes right back out in taxes. We’re supposed to have representatives advocating for us in the workplace, but many of them seem absent when it comes to addressing our concerns yet they’re quick to appear ... read more
