I bought the device and set it all up. It worked well the first day, but on the 2nd day, the spring on the clip Zoleo provided to attach the Zoleo to a tether they provided failed, and the clip opened up. This caused the Zoleo to fall off somewhere in the mountains of Mexico. Even though the Zoleo clip failed, customer service refused to warranty the product. I was paying a $60 a month service for this device and still would not warranty the failed product. I can not suggest this device to trust your life with!
I really am very happy with this product! and the service! I go gold mining two or three times a year for a week or two at a time it's in the middle of nowhere there's no service so I bought multiple devices for multiple networks to make sure I was able to stay in contact with my wife when she was pregnant and now that we have a kid I want to stay in contact as well. It's kind of flakey, a bit confusing to figure out when tethered to your phone (too many unhelpful beeps). Customer service, while friendly, was *very* unhelpful with my problems with it in the backcountry (missing location coordinates) - having to contact then on at least 4 occasions to get an answer of "No signal". My local retailer wasn't much help either. I'd seriously look at a Garmin instead next time. Edited to say: have tested the SOS function and it works as advertised.
