This place did not help me i came here because i was told i could get help and the workers said because i didnt have any visible bruises they couldnt offer me shelter i was with my two little babies ages one and two running from a abusive man who was threatening to hit my children .i explained all of this to them . I didnt know anyone in the state and they sent me a taxi to a graveyard with a empty church beside it . DONT GO THERE FOR HELP LADIES THEY DO NOT CARE . Specifically the SECOND shift . YWCA DOES IMPECCABLE WORK WITH FAMILIES HELPING WITH RESOURCES AND GOING BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY
I felt compelled to write this after seeing some of the negative reviews, because my experience was the complete opposite. I recently had the opportunity to volunteer at this shelter, and I was honestly blown away by the level of care, professionalism, and compassion shown by the staff. I am currently in this shelter this weekend will be my last. These so called women who work here are very cold and heartless human beings and treat you like you are nothing. I had to flee to Ohio from Michigan with my 3 children from there father who abused me for yrs and tried to kill me. I came to this shelter and was told I can be here for 60 days while I get on my feet.
