short on lesson I send my daughter there for ballet lesson and other classes as well on the weekends. It has been over 8 months now, and I have to say they were rarely ever on time with class lessons. The lessons are always 10 to 15 minutes late and ends right on the mark. Yoko should enforce her teachers carry out their full 1 hour lesson for the student instead of ripping them off on the time. I am very much fed up with this and felt that we had been cheated out of our time and wasted our time just waiting past the class t... read more
childhood trauma from Yoko I grew up taking classes from Yoko when she still taught at Mission Dance Center. She was always pretty rude to me and definitely traumatized me by playing favorites and insulting me. I am in my thirties now, and when I was in my twenties I ran into some of my fellow dancers who admitted that they had developed eating disorders under her direction. No surprise there. I could go on and on with the horror stories, but I don't think I'm alone. You can probably guess they types of things a cliched fail... read more
Yoko's Dance & Performing Arts is okay...not crazy about it My daughter has been dancing here for a couple of years - she is now 6 yrs old. I don't think Yoko would have the slightest idea who she or any of the other children in the kiddies dance classes are. She really only focuses on the older, more experienced dancers - the ones that make her look good and win her prizes and accolades! At recital time she boasts about how wonderful her dancers are and how they got it all from her! Such modesty! Anyway, not a bad trait to ... read more
Yoko's is a great dance studio! Yoko's Dance and Performing Arts Academy has been one of the best things for my family. When my daughter started dancing there, it gave her something to look forward to. When she started competing, it gave her focus, in her academic studies, as well as dance. Yoko expects her dance student to perform well scholastically, as well as in the dance studio. The atmosphere at the studio echoes what we, as parents, teach at home - enjoy what you do, dedicate yourself to it, and do it to the best of y... read more
Best Dance Studio!! My girls dance at Yoko's and I am very happy with them dancing there. If you want a studio that teaches your daughter proper dance, with a strong ballet foundation, Yoko's is the place to be. Every performance whether it be the summer recital, winter show, competition, community function, or Nutcracker Ballet the girls (and boys) bring their best performance to the stage. Parents also see their dance improvements from the previous year, and it is obvious they all are having a wonderful time. The studio is... read more
Want to dance like professional My daughters have attend quite a few dance studios for their ballet traning. THis is the best among the rest. My daughters really like the teachers. I can see their dance skill advanced a lot.
Good Competition Dance School Yoko Young has won countless awards for her dance school because she places high in competitions. The dancers work extremely hard and she emphasizes on taking a lot of classes to improve yourself. While she may not be nice herself, the teachers are ok and teach you a lot. If you go there you will learn how to become a better dancer and performer because you will be constantly required to improve and forced to work hard. Very good competition school but not good if you only want lessons and to da... read more
frightening The owner of this dance studio, Yoko Young, is a the stereotypical heartless, cold ballet instructor wielding a razor sharp tongue. When you first meet her, she seems polite enough and smiles appropriately. But, once the necessary trivialties of enrollment are complete and she has your money, she is merciless in her taunts and insults. I know several dancers have wound up in tears because she insulted their body weight, figure, looks, lack of dancing ability, etc. Yoko has a good repuation among those that place ... read more
