Kettlebells is an awesome class! – McBurney is an awesome facility. I'm here all the time and use everything from running track to the workout machiens to the pool. I am currently taking kettlebell training with Richard Lehman. It boggles my mind that his class isn't promoted as much because it's easily the best thing I've taken here!
Excellent Gym – I have been a member for 3 years, and think this is a great gym. It is very low-key, with a wide range of members, old and young, in-shape and not. The staff is very helpful, despite what other reviewers say. I know people that have been members for over 40 years, and some of that is because of how helpful the staff is. This is a good place to get away from yuppies, jocks, and hipsters too. My only complaint is that sometimes the machines are not fixed fast enough after they break, but they are about to put i... read more
IMPROVMENT – THE FRONT DESK NEEDS IMPROVEMENT, I TRIED TO REGISTER FOR SWIMMING LESSONS AND THEY MADE ME COME 3 TIMES AND I AM STILL NOT ABLE TO REGISTER. AND EVERY TIME I HAVE TO WAIT ON LONG LINE. I FINALLY GIVE UP TO LEARN HOW TO SWIM JUST BECAUSE THE FRONT DESK ARE NOT WELCOMING. IT DID REMIND ME OF DMV.... MAY BE IT'S CHEAPER THAN OTHER PLACES BUT YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAY FOR. FAY
A nationally recognized recreation and athletic center geared toward community improvement. – In Short The first U.S. branch of the YMCA started in Boston in 1851; there are now more than 2,500 locations nationwide, making it the country's largest nonprofit community service program. Each YMCA reflects the community it's in, offering differing services based on the area. Most include fitness areas with aerobic equipment, classes and racquetball and tennis courts. Many also have day care and after-school programs, as well as ... read more
Nice Facility - Rude People – The McBurney YMCA is a beautiful gym. There is a huge pool, new machines with televisions, basketball court, weight room, free classes, indoor track and more. The only problem that I have at McBurney is with the people who work there, and some of the patroms. The staff is generally rude and unhelpful, and many of the gym's members are "bitchy" bussybodies. I've seen several fights break out in Yoga class. Bottom line... Bring your iPod and keep to yourself.
Nice facility, Incompetent Staff, Idiotic Hours – The facility is nice but the staff is utterly incompetent and quite useless. Additionally the fact that they close at 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday is about as intelligent as their staffing decisions.
This YMCA staffs does not care members but ignore!!! – Facilities, classes and members are good. However STAFFS do NOT CARE for a member who has a hard time b/c of a few staffs who are very rude, abusive, dishonest, gossipy, scheming, and discrimating - even though the member reported to get help several times. They said they would help, but did not even try. Rather, some staffs INCLUDING A DIRECTOR IGNORE the TRUTH and the member. They did not even try to figure out the truth. The member was there to relax and enjoy exercis... read more
