Sooo fortunate to have this service available post dv and during post separation abuse with children affected. The perpetrator called all community legal call centres including LegalAid at each development, and LegalAid representation proved hit and miss with dire results when an appointed lawyer was not prepared to fulfil their funded purpose. Due to the availability of a women's only service I could still access advice and represent myself during the process. The system is biased. The family courts have inherent failings. ... read more
An extremely important service. Women deserve such a service, including further funding!!
Further update - they never called my provided number to 'understand more about the situation' now one week on. This shows how sincere they are. And any organisation that truly cares will provide the name of a staff member and phone contact, not the web address for a feedback form. I vote Labor, but I hope the Liberal government defunds them out of existence. For goodness sake, if in immediate crisis, unsafe and needing shelter call DV Connect. If not needing this, but needing legal advice find a family law firm using Google... read more
