When it became necessary to move my mom into assisted living. I was in tears at the prospect of having to do everything by myself. Amy the administrator at Windsor Manor saved my life that day. She walked me through every step of the way, assuring me that no question was too silly. She made everything so simple and my mom and I gained a loving and dedicated family from that day forward. Unfortunately, my dad was only at Windsor Manor for a short time, but I could tell he would have been happy there. The staff was very accommodating as we moved him in from out of state. It was a stressful move for him, but he commented repeatedly about how helpful and nice everyone was. The other residents were welcoming and there were great activities to participate in. We felt he was cared about and supported with the help he needed.
This was home for my mother for 8 years! She enjoyed everything about Windsor Manor. The staff, the other residents, the activities, as well as the food. FUN is encouraged and makes for happy residents. My mother was 99 when she needed additional assistance, but there are several other residence as old, or older at Windsor. Residents thrive here! I would be interested to know how anyone gets their family member care at this facility. I have called twice for my mother. If her income and lump sum payments are not enough. A chance to let the family pay the difference would be nice, or a list of what exact she needs to meet criteria would be helpful. Received nothing and no phone call back. As a member of the Grinnell community for 8 years, having my mom local be nice.
