$400+ monthly HOAs which give you pretty much nothing worth that cost. Its detrimental to the home owners and prospective buyers. Basically I've seen houses just sit for sale for months and months, while owners have to cut the sale price in a useless attempt to balance the high HOAs. We were very interested in a home for my mother, but the HOA is so ridiculous, you'd basically pay an extra $150,000+ on top of your mortgage at the end of 30 years.
