My mother has been in two rehabilitation centers within the last year or so. She was at Golden Living Center across from PMC and then at Whitestone last winter. While at Whitestone, she would tell me every day that she wanted to go home. While at GLC, she initially did the same thing but after she got to know people and participate in activities, she made friends and was in very good spirits. This facility is understaffed and some staff members seem untrained. My grandmother has been there for only 3wks and has already sustained 2 fall injuries and deyhdration, all of which required hopspitalization. Her initial evaluation deemed her needing more assistance than the average resident due to a recent stroke. According to Whitestone's adimistrators, they are in ratio of care...then can someone explain how a women who has a complete one sided deficit is left in a chair without observation in her room when she is high... read more
