I just bought my first serious road bike from Wheelfast. I did a ton of research online and visited every bike shop in Chatham and Springfield, including Ace Bike Shop (not mentioned above). All are good shops, but Wheelfast stood out from the rest from my first visit. It was the only shop I went to where I didn't feel like I was being sold a car, and no one ever tried to get me to buy something out of my budget, unlike the other salesmen. These guys are great! I have been a long time customer of wheel fast. They are a small town shop with great service, bikes and accessories. They also do special orders.
Being from Springfield you have limited choices, but those choices are pretty good. Bike Tek (Scott & Raleigh), R&M Cyclery (Trek & Cannondale), and Wheelfast (Specialized & Giant). I would not hesitate purchsing a bike from any of these businesses (Bike Tek slightly over priced on most items, but only slightly.) R&M is by far the busiest (the Armstrong Effect), and you can almost always find a good deal on parts and accessories.
