in 1993 I did a 3-day clinical rotation( in school working to become a nurse). I spent those days with Alma...I was truly blown away because I always pictured the Senior center as a bunch of people just sitting around playing cards LOL but when I went there I saw that vital programs for seniors are in place, and in this day + age of the "fractured" family, families cannot always be in the same Community as their loved ones, but if you visit this Center you will see that there is a family there and it's very close!!!
their entire mission is to keep seniors healthy and able to be independent as long as possible!
I was so blessed to spend time at this Center, as I was in my early twenties, and I volunteer that Westboro nursing home when I was 12 for a summer and what I found out is that when someone volunteers, they are the ones who receive the benefit more so than the people they are volunteering for!!!
I hope that we can drop off even a 5 or $10 gift card, so we can help these folks to continue to reach out to those you cannot help themselves and have had their services cut and their families unable to visit. every penny will go to the right place.
Alma ( and ALL THOSE STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, . loves her seniors and the center, and that is why it is such a vital part of the senior population. God bless all of you in such a difficult time.
