I am a customer of West Marine, I currently work at the VFW in Braintree MA. More than half of my costumers own boats, they always tell me about the tall older gentlemen and how he is very knowledgeable, very helpful and one of the only reasons for even going to West Marine in Braintree. I believe his name is Bobbie Downs. I think he is a huge asset to the store.
I was recently at West Marine with a friend who was picking up some things for his boat to get it ready for the spring, we were approached and assisted by a gentleman named Mr. Downs. Mr Downs was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in assisting my friend getting everything he needed. It is very rare these days to see people such as Mr Downs who are very personable and caring towards customers. It was truly refreshing. My friend even made the statement "that was the best experience I ever had".
When our trailer tire blew out on 93 today over an hour from home, we called four different places before finding exactly what we needed. The team at West Marine in Braintree came to our rescue with their excellent customer service and knowledge. They took a stressful situation and kept us laughing and happy. We may have missed Lacrosse and Bball tournament but they Definitely turned our day around!
