My elderly father was allowed to withdraw his entire life savings while actively being scammed, with the scammer on the phone with him at the teller’s window. Despite this massive red flag, this Wells Fargo proceeded with the withdrawal and handed him the cash in a brown paper bag. There were multiple obvious warning signs: an elderly customer, an unusually large withdrawal, visible phone coaching during the transaction, and extreme urgency- all classic indicators of financial exploitation.
