I do NOT recommend Wells Fargo AT ALL! I am the power of attorney for someone whose account closed in 2022. They approved me as a POA in the bank and reissued a significant check. However, they would not give me her last 5 years of statements from her closed account because they cannot locate her account even with her social and bank account number. A good place to do banking.
Today I visited the Wells Fargo branch in West Orange to deposit a check in excess of $5,000 into my account. The teller assisting me, Rubeya, attempted to contact the issuing bank to verify the check and ultimately declined to accept the deposit with no reason given. I was not provided with a clear explanation as to why the deposit could not be processed, nor was I offered alternatives such as depositing the check with a standard hold, escalation to a supervisor or guidance on next steps.
