I was being added into an account here at Wells Fargo. The manager looked at me, straighten my eyes and told me I have to wait 30 minutes while he’s doing who knows what I understand everybody’s busy in the banking world. I have banked with this branch for over four years and maintain a law firm IOLTA/trust account here. Until recently, deposits—including settlement checks—were handled without issue. Two months ago, the branch manager informed me that settlement checks would no longer be accepted for deposit unless I provide a client engagement/retainer agreement for each check or require my clients to appear in person at the branch.
