If you are elderly and require careful, considerate client service, avoid these people at all cost!
My aunt (91) and my mom (86) have 'service' from these people. As far as I know they, they have been very good about paying their bills. They last received a bill in September 2019, which they paid promptly -- I know because I help them make out their checks. They have not received any bill since that time.
Yesterday, their garbage was not collected, and today I tried to call, just to get someone to go out and do it, and I get some bimbo on the line who can't discuss the account with me because I am not the account holder. I did not want to discuss the account, I never said I wanted to discuss the account, I was not going to ask her for anybody's personal, confidential financial information-- I just wanted to get their trash collected, for God's sake, but so much for sanity....
Tonight, my sister calls and tells me my mom called her all upset because she got a phone call from Waste Management and she thinks they are saying that they are going to do something with her credit rating because they say she hasn't paid her bill. Now, neither my mom nor my aunt can hear well enough to carry on a phone conversation, so heaven only knows what whoever called actually said to my mom. But, we go over there and search through all the bill paperwork since the end of last summer, and, sure enough, nothing since the September bill...no new bill, no late notice, nothing stating that service will be terminated on such-n-such date...nothing...
In addition, as far as my aunt and my mom know, they have not gotten any phone messages until the person who called today and scared my mom. We make a phone call and pay the 'overdue' amount + some processing fee and are informed that there will be some other b*Illsh*t fee involved for resuming service.
This is obviously a quite money making scam for Waste Management, and I have to wonder just how many elderly folks they are jerking around in this manner.
I then went online to the WM website and tried to find an email address to which to send a complaint -- good luck with that!
So, I am posting this here and will post it elsewhere as well. This weekend it looks like I'll be writing to the NYS Office for the Aging and The Attorney General...not exactly how I want to spend my free time, but it really burns me up when people try to take advantage of the elderly like this.
