I have tried calling about property tax for the last couple Of hours and the auto machine just puts your through a constant loop and you don’t actually reach anyone… what a piece of absolute garbage! And you wonder why people hate dealing with government employees….

5.9.2025 - I went to this office for the 1st time since I recently purchased a home in Walton County. McKayla is very professional and helpful. She manually processed my Homestead Tax Exemption application and informed me that I would received a final document in the mail.
Moved from out of state, went to this office to register our van, they calculated about $3.5k based on their fair market value which is double from the actual FMV and KBB. We disagreed and went to tax assessed office, lady was super nice and told us to give her some time to shop around, the most expensive car she found was very close to the highest value on KBB which was $17k less than the TAG office has in their systems but she called the guy who told her not to say that to us, we heard the whole conversation. I just called to get some help from the Tax Assessors office to try to calculate what senior exemption might be for a property. I wasn't looking for an exact just a ballpark idea or the instructions on how to do it. The person I encountered was not helpful, courteous or patient. Basically you have to buy the house then they will tell you what your taxes are and there is absolutely no way to estimate it at all. I was not expecting this response at all.
