More than just a drug store Excellent bookstore for popular authors and "local interest". If you like tourist tchotchke, this is great- buffalo bobble heads, mugs, etc. The drug store is actually on the expensive side, and has a limited selection. Also an art gallery, restaurant, clothing, camping equipment, etc. I wouldn't make a trip here, but if you're passing through it's fun.
Wall Drug If you haven't been to Wall Drug, make sure you get to go through it at least once in your life. It's an amazing piece of history. It's a real tourist trap, but kids will love it. The shopping is good, food is even better. Don't forget about the free ice water. :) I know the owners, knew the original founder. Good people.
A must-stop when passing through South Dakota Yes, it is a cheesy tourist trap, but the kids will love it! Much bigger than it seems from outside, something for everyone. ENORMOUS gift shop, all the typical touristy stuff, plus dinosaur fossils, even a giant mechanical T-Rex that comes to life every 15 minutes or so! Plus, the food is terrific..we loved the open faced roast beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy! Definitely plan on spending an hour or two...don't worry about finding it, there are about 500 roadside s... read more
Surprisingly, a lot of fun for the whole family You wouldn't think that taking your family to a pharmacy on vacation would be fun, but this one is truely "one of a kind"! They have an art gallery, a large "backyard" for kids to play in, and an area for kids to mine for REAL gold! (I have some to prove it!) If you're driving though, make it a point to stop here!
Great place to stop Awesome place to stop and wander while on the road to the Black Hills. It has many things in its gift shop and easy access to the interstate.
It was a fun stop and a popular tourist trap. A lot to look at and things to keep the kids entertained, we can tick it of our list.
So fun! My friend and I are from Washington and stopped here on our road trip heading east. We were just gonna drive through the town, but upon seeing how cute it was, ended up staying over two hours! We stopped at Wall Drug after Mt. Rushmore -- honestly, I enjoyed the Wall Drug experience more than Rushmore. So much to do! Yummy food at the Cafe -- although kinda pricey. It felt like you took a step back into time -- Old Wild West. If you're a family with kids...stop here. You won't be disappointed.
This is the only attraction for hundreds of miles, so you won't miss it. It's a tourist trap with a bunch of novelty stores and odd displays. You don't have to buy anything to have fun, just wanted around and enjoy.
