Whoever answered the calls at this DA office really hates her job. I’m a victim and it is not the best when you deal with someone who really doesn’t want to help you with information and you hear her banking on keyboard.
Do not vote for Lorrin Freeman. She is letting state troopers lie and not render aid to motorist. 14-225 is a law in NC which the state troopers broke among other laws. She should not be DA.
Will gladly prosecute a civilian for lying to police, but let two officers blatantly lie and decide it's wrong but not criminally wrong. This right here is why the public has lost trust in the police and with the justice system. It's broken beyond repair. All of you will need to be voted out. North Carolina is waking up to this kind of nonsense.
The DA (Lorrin Freeman) has a "no drop" policy for domestic cases. This means if there's a misunderstanding of a situation, a retraction by the alleged victim, or no real evidence in a case they will still seek some penalty. The accused (mostly men) are forced to make a plea deal in order to avoid trial. That is not justice. DV laws in this country have too often been lacking, but this is an overshoot.
