Vitamix as a blender for smoothies is such a disappointment - the brand acts like they are the best, but the blender chokes making daily smoothies, it's LOUD, it's a bad design that can't mix itself fully even with the gigantic awful plastic black tool they provide. I didn’t think I needed/wanted a Vitamix, but it’s been worth it! Customer service is always terrific as well. Those lovely people answer the phone, hear poor descriptions of parts, and diagnosis issues by listening to the machine over the phone. Sure, I was on hold for 45 minutes (I used the call back functionality so I wasn’t actually “on hold”) but I don’t mind when I get lovely, well-trained people on the phone.

I’ve been a Vitamix user for 15 years, and my brand new Vitamix purchased in 2010 still works perfectly to this day. Because of that excellent experience, five years ago I decided to compromise and try a refurbished unit. Unfortunately, that decision has been a huge disappointment.
