Visiting DC I decided to rent a Veo electric bike to the airport. Better than taxi. After I downloaded app and registered I took off. First problem was the pedals just span and did not engage with the chain. But the throttle worked so I figured I would use that. After 50 yards it ran out of power and I had to wheel it back. More annoying was they refused to refund me the $8 on the grounds that it had left the starting location! They have the data to see how far I went before returning it. Lousy.
I never received the $20 that they withheld from me.
How does this make ANY sense, in the street5 ft past a bus stop? It's not just this low rated company ... it's ebikes and escooters, in general, just being left all over sidewalks. Companies ... it doesn't make you more visible, but it DOES become a nuisance and a hazard.
