Beware: One of their "advisors" revealed to me that they receive incentives for getting people to open mutual fund accounts, and not for other types of investments (e.g. GICs).
I was given a Vancity cheque. I took it to a Vancity branch to cash it. They skimmed $5 as a "fee" from their member's cheque amount. (Vancity personal cheque $100 as written; Vancity cashed it for $100 but I was only given $95--5 percent for Vancity . Why? As there was no need to use a clearing house from another bank. It was just nickel and diming greed by the Caring Community Credit Union that was started to help ordinary people (not like the big banks!). Very strange, when the big banks don't charge a fee!
