I had a very disappointing experience working with John Messina and would not recommend Van Riper & Messina CPAs based on my experience. I was referred to John due to the complexity of my 2021 tax return, but my return was ultimately prepared by another member of the team. An error on the return later resulted in an IRS audit and over $1,500 in penalties and interest, which I paid in full. I have used other accountants in the past, but none even came close to the professionalism, quality, and outstanding customer service of Van Riper & Messina. All of the staff were responsive, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable entrusting them throughout the process. It was a wonderful privilege to work for Van Riper & Messina for 3 years. The owners treat their employees like family and their clients with the utmost respect. It saddens me to see disgruntled ex-employees post negative one-sided reviews. I had a wonderful experience working here, but all I will say is that it is not a job for the faint of heart.
