When you try to call it's completely impossible to get someone on the line. I have very specific questions about filing late for 2023 that a robot can't answer and it's completely ridiculous that it hangs up on you if you ask for a representative. Absolutely absurd. I would give negative stars if I could.

Says they open at 8:30. Been calling for more than half an hour and all I get is the recording saying the office is not open at this time and to call back during regular business hours. HELLO...it's regular business hours and nobody's home. If it's because all the lines are busy, how hard would it be to have a recording saying that? It's completely infuriating that it's virtually impossible to contact these government agencies when we're in desperate need of answers to questions that are an emergency on our end. My tax preparer made a mistake on my return and I received a letter from the IRS requesting additional forms. I needed to speak to someone at the IRS to review, the phone number just puts you into a national call center, I decided instead to visit the Portsmouth office. I was checked in and met with an IRS employee who walked my through the error and the correct number. Very helpful and clearly explained. If you have a question or concern I would visit the office and not bother with the telephone line.

Walked in, submitted my forms, and walked out all in less than 10 minutes. The whole process was quick and easy. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful.
