The irs is an absolute nightmare, you can never talk to a human being. If you contact there call line it's a stupid automated answering machine you think with are tax money they would do better or actually implant an effective answering machine but nope it's a cheap one. I am pretty decent with knowing what I need to do when it comes to taxes etc, but I came across a question I just could not find the answer to online, but I felt it was a very simple yes or no question,. I thought I knew the answer but just needed confirmation that I understood things correctly. I didn't have an appointment as I didn't know I needed one.
