No matter what questions they ask, I always say, "I don't have to answer that question." Over and over. They don't like that answer, but they know it's correct. They are allowed to ask questions, but we are not required to answer them. They have a job to do, but we are not required to help them do their job. Eventually, usually sooner than later, they wave me through. I push back against government expansion.

We were stopped on our way home at night and had no idea why at first, so that was nerve racking. The officer was very polite and told us our registration was expired. Somehow in our busy lives, we'd let that happen. Will was the officer and he could have given us a much worse consequence, but we got basically a fix it ticket. My husband is Hispanic and being pulled over at night brought a minute of panic because we didn't realize we'd done anything wrong. The officer that pulled us over made it 100x less stressful. If they were all guarding the border AT THE BORDER, we wouldn't need to be stopped at these stations all the way up to Flagstaff! When I lived in Tombstone they saw the inside of my trunk more than I did!
